Collin Benjamin, a dedicated tutor at Solomon Islands National University, comes from Western and Choiseul Province. He commenced his academic journey at Peava Adventist Primary School, Kukudu Adventist College, and Honiara High School. After completing a chef program at Fiji National University (FNU) in 2012, Collin worked as a cook in hotels and a military base in Honiara. His passion for nutrition led him to pursue a Bachelor’s in Dietetics and Nutrition, graduating in 2016.
He joined SINU in 2017 as an academic and associate researcher, collaborating with Griffith University and the International Water Centre, Australia. In 2023, he co-garnered the Big Ideas Award as part of a three-member team at the Water and WASH Futures Conference, which earned him a place as the Pacific Islands representative at the World Water Week in Stockholm, Sweden. Prior to joining SINU, Collin served as the program coordinator for UNICEF in 2015, overseeing the distribution of micronutrient powder (MNP) in health centres across the country.
Beyond academia, Collin has served as a national research consultant for NGOs such as Save the Children and UNICEF/JICA, contracted through Dikoda. These experiences reflect his commitment to advancing nutrition, health, and community resilience in the Solomon Islands and across the Pacific.
