Asia and the Pacif ic remains the world’s fastest growing region. The rise in affluence in conjunction with growing populations is driving greater demand for more protein-rich food and better nutrition. Despite the uptick in demand, 733 million people in the region still live-in absolute poverty and 537 million people remain undernourished.
Governments, communities and development partners throughout Asia and the Pacific are working towards addressing various challenges relating to urban nutrition: failure of the food system, low affordability and poor accessibility of healthy foods
With our varied expertise and networks of professions, Dikoda is working with partners and collaborators on policies and programs to enable better production, processing and distribution of food, and promote sustainable diets through technical assistance on:
- Urban food system analysis in 8 Asian cities for WFP
- Recommending actions and policies for all forms of malnutrition in the Pacific for UNICEF Pacific
- Research on individual, social and food environment factors affecting young children, adolescents, and pregnant/lactating mothers’ diets in Fiji for UNICEF Pacifi
