Joana Forte is a water, sanitation, and hygiene specialist with experience in the educational and health sectors. She has worked extensively in Sub-Saharan Africa (including Angola, Burundi, Cabo Verde, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, São Tomé e Príncipe, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia), as well as in Nepal and Brazil. Joana is an architect with a PhD and over 15 years of experience with multiple organizations, such as the World Bank, WaterAid, SNV, WSUP, and GIZ. Her work encompasses support for projects involving infrastructure, strategic planning, policy analysis and development, financial modeling, capacity building, governance strengthening, private sector development, and social and sustainable urban and rural development. Throughout her career, Joana has produced a variety of outputs including technical guidance, project strategies, implementation reports, and research reports, all tailored to diverse audiences such as institutions, the private sector, and communities. Joana is fluent in English and is a native Portuguese speaker.
