Building Nutrition Resilience in Kenya

Across Africa, nutrition challenges are shaped by diverse geographies, persistent inequalities, and the growing impacts of climate change. In Kenya, these pressures are most acute in the arid and semi-arid lands, where families face recurrent drought, food insecurity, and limited access to essential services. At Dikoda, we work with local partners to generate evidence that strengthens resilience and improves nutrition outcomes in these contexts.

Our Work in Kenya

In partnership with Mercy Corps and others, we are evaluating how integrated, multi-sectoral programmes can reduce acute malnutrition and help households adapt to climate and livelihood shocks. Through innovative longitudinal methods and participatory approaches, we are generating insights that inform programme adaptations and shape policy responses at national and county levels.

Why it Matters

By grounding our research in Kenya’s complex realities –  from climate-driven shocks to entrenched poverty and inequality – we aim to support solutions that go beyond short-term fixes. Our work contributes to a stronger evidence base for resilience-building in Africa, helping governments, practitioners, and communities design interventions that last.
