Monica Mavu is an experienced qualitative researcher with a strong track record in the research industry, particularly in public and health program-oriented studies. She has developed expertise across a wide range of domains, including health and nutrition, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), governance, livelihoods, adolescent and youth development, and gender studies.

Currently, Monica is engaged in the USAID Nawiri food and nutrition security program in the ASAL regions of Samburu and Turkana. In this role, she is managing several critical studies, including those focused on Community Health, Adolescents, Gender, REAP for Nutrition, Unconditional Cash Transfer Post Distribution, Longitudinal Research, Maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN), and Fecal-Oral Pathways.

Her extensive repertoire of qualitative data collection techniques includes community dialogues, time use/proportional piling, photovoice, seasonal calendars, causal mapping, storytelling, focus group discussions, in-depth interviews, observations, ethnographies, diaries, shop-alongs, mystery shopper exercises, image collages, projective techniques, sentence completion, and word association.

Throughout her career, Monica has refined a wide range of research and analytical skills, including proposal writing, developing ethics protocols, designing data collection tools, and analyzing data using Nvivo. She is adept at presenting findings, disseminating results, preparing technical briefs, and writing detailed reports in both PowerPoint and Word formats. Her collaborative approach, adaptability, and application of Human Centered Design (HCD) principles have been integral to her success in implementation research and delivering impactful, evidence-based outcomes.
