Prof. Peter is an Associate Professor in the Department of Food, Nutrition and Dietetics at the School of Health Sciences, Kenyatta University. He also serves as an Adjunct Research Fellow at AICAD. With a robust academic foundation in Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics, Prof. Peter combines his scholarly expertise with extensive practical experience gained through senior roles with leading organizations, including the Lutheran World Federation, World Vision, UNICEF, and Kenya’s Ministry of Health. His professional portfolio spans training, research, program design, and community-level interventions. He has led numerous high-impact consultancies, such as the development of the Kenya Nutrition Capacity Development Framework (2023–2027), barrier analyses on feeding practices and WASH, impact assessments of conditional cash transfers on acute malnutrition, and the Mid-Term Review of the Multi-Sectoral Nutrition Action Plan (MNAP) 2018–2025. His international work includes assessing GBV risk mitigation in nutrition services in South Sudan, alongside implementing SMART surveys, Focused Ethnographic Studies (FES), and the OPTIFOOD study in Kenya. An accomplished scholar, Prof. Peter has authored 80 peer-reviewed publications, contributed 3 book chapters, and successfully supervised 4 PhD and 47 MSc students to completion.
